Just moved back home to find out a mate of mine has died but I don't talk to his family so they won't tell me where he's buried. Can I get a hold of his death certificate to find out how he died and how do I go about finding out where he's buried ? Not sure if it's in England or Scotland cos he stayed in both. Can the public get access to that kind of info ? Just want to put some flowers down but never really got on with his family. Cheers.

Do you know approximately when your friend died? If it was before the end of 2003 I could help you quickly.

It was the first or second week in Dec 2003. How do I find out where he's buried ? Will it cost me or can I check it anywhere for free ? Don't really have a lot of cash. Cheers mate.

I can probably narrow down your search to a city, or a town, or a locality if you can tell me his full name. That much wouldn't cost you anything. Then I could give you the details which would enable you to order a copy of the death certificate, which would cost you �7. But I don't know if you are allowed to state you friend's full name on this site. I suppose you could try it - perhaps each name in a separate question, or something like that? I know that this site will not allow me to give you my e-mail address, or other contact information, unfortunately.

Thanks Robert. His first name's Martin and he died aged 26.

It was on Dec 11th 2003 and his second name's Pybus. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just want to show my respect. Cheer mate.

Sorry, CharlieDelta, but I haven't found your friend's death registered anywhere in England or Wales in December 2003. I found his birth registered in a town (beginning with C) in Yorkshire sometime in April/May/June 1977, and I know his middle name (beginning with A) and his mother's maiden name (beginning with H). Have I got the right person?

So either his death may have been registered after 31 December 2003, or he died elsewhere. If his death was registered in England or Wales in January 2004, the information will not be accessible online until next summer.

You say he may have died in Scotland, in which case I am unable to help you - the information for deaths registered after 1955 doesn't seem to be accessible online.

I'm really sorry about this. Perhaps there's someone else who may be able to help, especially if you know whereabouts in Scotland your friend may have been living just before he died.

Hey Robert , no worries and cheers for all your help. I'm keeping a note of your links as they are very useful. I think you may have pulled someone else's record though because my mate's birthday was Feb 1977. Your help is greatly appreciated all the same. Do you think my library would be able to help me ? Or what about cemetery info , how would I get that ? Guess i'll just have to keep searching and hoping. Thanks again though.
