Yes. You only need one kidney to have a completely normal lifestyle, which is why transplant recipients only recieve one. Nature has provided us with a 'failsafe', so as long as the other kidney stays healthy, there are no ill effects.

Yip, my best friend was born with just one kidney. She leads a perfectly normal life, has three kids and can drink me under the table!
