If you go to the doctors for a pregnancy test, is it your blood they take or urine?

That's cos over the counter tests don't give false postives, so you're pregnant if it says you are, no point wasting NHS time and money repeating it.
in reply to "kicks" post... im afraid that is incorrect. I did a pregnancy test and it came out positive so i went to my doctor... he insisted on doin another one because the home kits are very unreliable. the one at the doctors surgery came back negative... he advised me to always go to the doctors for testing as he doesnt thing home tests are reliable at all.
In answer to fideldyfee urine for a standard pregnancy test..the over the counter ones are often more acurate than the hospital ones - if there is doubt or there are problems you can measure the level of the hormone in the blood that is tested for in the urine. Sometimes different urine tests give both positive and negative results, if you keep repeating different tests you sometimes get a false one, which throws a spanner in the works and requires further investigation!
