Just out of interest, does anyone know of anyone who sprays when they yawn, cos my sister does. Whenever she yawns, two jets of spit shoot out, nice. I bet her husband can't believe his luck.
It's not spit, it's kind of like a fine spray of droplets. It's as if the yawn squashes something in the back of your mouth (saliva glands or something?) and that movement forces them to spray- a bit like popping a zit I guess. But I barely notice it, and it only shows when they droplets (TINY) land on the page you are reading or something.
I do it. Under your tongue you have 2 saliva glands and as I am a well hydrated lass, i assume I produce apit easily. It all depends on how you lift your tongue when yu yawn, this is how you spray people. In my case I was always brought up to believe that noone wanted to see the inside of your mouth (except cyril that is) so i cover mine and try to keep my tongue rooted.
i can do it on demand too - especially after eating sherbet or something sour or just chewing my tongue! Just have to bend my tongue out so the bottom of my tongue is on the roof of my mouth. I used to have contests with my cousins - who could get their's to go the furthest. I also occasionally do it to annoy my boyfriend...
I just did it (which is why I googled "yawning saliva spray" and ended here)
I just ate a load of bread and yawned... and a nice little spray came out.
I suspect it's quite common,
although there is no mention of it on the wikipedia page about yawning.
