Red Beard

If some had a beard which has brown blond and reddish colours in it would it mean they hold the gene for red hair ?

I don't know for sure, but apparently, going back in family history, we had some ancestors with red hair, no-one in our present family has, except my brother, where its manifested itself in his beard, butnot the hair on his head.

I don't know either, but my dad has a reddish blonde beard, his hair is blonde, I was born with copper hair which went blonde. My sister has dark blonde (mousey - but don't tell her that) hair. My uncle (dad's brother) has reddish hair, but none of us are what you'd call a true red head. So, enough of my family hair colour, guess what I'm saying is it's not enough to go on necessarily.

Being Scottish we are used to men having a spot of ginge in their beard even although they have dark head hair (dont know about the rest-no personal experience!).

So in answer to your Q - there is no telling.Genes can go back so far that its amazing and brings it home to you ho someone who was alive in say the 17c or 18c can determine our genetics now.

For example - my ex is 5'8" and I am 5'5" but our son is 6,4" and built like a rugby player.Our daughter is already taller than me at 16.

Actually that would be a good topic for discussion - how our ancestors have shaped our lives!I am sure people would have plenty to say on the subject - medical-physical etc.Its intruiqing.

As far as genes are concerned, on very rare occasions, a black baby has been born to a white couple, purely and simple because of an unknown black ancestor, and the gene just manifested then, Skin or hair colour, whatever, if the genes there, at some point it'll come through.
