hi i want to get a tattoo on the top of my foot. it wont be my first tattoo so the pain factor (although ive heard this is the most painful place) doesnt worry me but what i am a bit unsure about is how much it will fade and ive even heard that some places refuse to do it. obviously im going to ask the tattoo artist about these issues but it would be good to get an opinion from someone who actually has a foot tattoo, thank you!

I dont have a foot tattoo but have an ankle one and it has faded to the extent that it almost looks like a home-mader.I dont like coloured tattoos so when I went a couple of months ago to get my two babies initials discreetly on my wrist the guy told me I would have to have it done again (on my ankle).I have been told by two very reputable tatooists (not the ankle one) they would absolutely never tattoo on the face.I think that is really the only place a good one would never do it (saw a guy once with the Union Jack on his face - what an erse!!)

Preston had cute tattoos on each toe on Celeb BB.

I actually fancy one on my ring finger or a climbing one up my thumb.Like you the pain doesnt bother me at all.

In fact a cute foot one would be nice - same pain as ankle cos no flesh.Wrist was a walk in the park.

There you go a full answer which you didnt want cos I dont have one on my foot:)

tattoos on feet can be hard to look after as they scab and having to wear shoes and socks can make it worse and they can take longer to heal.

ive seen a few people with them and have thought about one on my foot myself and i think they looked lovley.

the pain thing you can either put up with it of not ive had 3 tattoos one very painfull one on the bottom of my back on the right hand side but it was well worth it.

verity - my daughter had a bird of paradise ( gorgeous) on the bottom of her back and almost passed out with the pain.I think I'll give it a miss:)

I never thought about the shoe thing re the foot tattoo-maybe best wait until summer ketchupkid so you can rattle about barefoot or wear flipflops.

Hi Ketchupkid, I have tattoos on both of my feet and they haven't faded much, I had them done at least 7 years ago.

I am thinkin of adding to them, its probably best to get them done in summer as you can chuck on your flip flops.

P.s I don't know who told you this is the most painful place, ( does not hurt) but they were wrong! Try having one done on your belly!!!!

I know tattooists don't like doing them on hands and faces, but I can't see any reason why a tattoist would refuse to do feet ( unless they stink a course)

I suppose I am lucky tho' as my best mate is my tattooist.

Good luck!

hi there...just a quickie....i had a tattoo done on my big toe last year in turkey.....yowsers did it hurt!!!! i coped tho...just!! however came home the next day and realised had kept my shoes on for quite a while [wot with the night of drinking and flight home early in morning]!! unfortunatly when the scab came off a week later the tattoo had faded quite alot...now my black cat looks more grey!!! tip of the day!!! make sure you keep ya tattoo uncovered for a few days!!!!! cheese x

Hi, I had a tattoo on my foot last summer - it is a lot easier to have one in the summer as you can wear flip flops and not look crazy! I can honestly say its not that painful and Im the biggest girl around... I think it depends on the artist when it comes to pain not the place on your body where you choose.. I have some flowers from my big toe curling round to the outside of my ankle, I am currently thinking of adding to it - any ideas appreciated x

I got a tattoo on the top of my foot 3 years ago, yes it hurt, but the pain is bearable, keep thinking of how good it will look after :) as for the fading issue, take the badage off as soon as you get home, wash it well, then apply bepanthen cream 4 times a day for the first 4 days. wear loose shoes that won't rub your ink. socks are fine to wear, just make sure the bepanthen doesnt dry off and it will be healed in 4 days :) good luck!
