I have just joined a gym which has a sauna. I was wondering if there are any benefits other than relaxion of using the sauna. I know you sweat, but surely any weight lost like that would be regained once you drink something?

It is very beneficial to the skin - kind of like having a facial, although I think it is supposed to be better for greasy skin than dry. Dry skin people should use a steam room

When you are in a sauna your metabolism and pulse rates increase, your blood vessels become more flexible, and your extremities benefit from increased circulation!

It can also relieve the symptoms of minor illnesses such as colds, it revives the muscles after tough physical exertion, and it clears the complexion of all the daily crap it is exposed to!

If you do decide to use the sauna, start gradually. Stay in only as long as you are comfortable, increasing the time with each visit.

Me & Mr Smudge used to go to the Sauna on a Friday night, then into the pool for a swim. We both found it very beneficial & it really helped with my sinus problem.

Sadly, our local leisure centre has recently decided to close it, so we now have to look elsewhere! :o{

* I meant closed the sauna, not the leisure centre -thankfully!
