The Evra Patch

Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone else here is on the Evra Patch? It's like the pill but in a patch that enters through your skin and you change it once a week.

I've been on it year now and still haven't come across any other users. It's just recently when I wear it on the right side of my hip, it irritates me and causes flaky skin. I've tried it on other places on the right of my body but the same thing happens.

Does it affect anyone in different ways and what do you think of it overall?

Hi treacle,

Yes, i'm on it and yes it does irritate me! I'm useless at taking the pill, I constantly forget, and I had to come off the injection *sob* because my dermatologist told me to. So the patch seemed like a happy medium.

I wear it at the bottom of my stomach, and change sides every week. I'm a larger lass so I had problems initially and worked out that it was because I was wearing it on my hip, and the little thing wasn't working as it had all this flab to fight it's way through!!

I do enjoy pulling it off when it's been itching like mad! but if you keep moving it every week it should give your skin a bit of a break.

All in all I think it's good, and it suits me to only have to remember it once a week.

Thanks for that englishbird, I feel better knowing it's not just me who's on it and it irritates! I was just a bit worried that it wasn't working when it caused a reaction on my skin but I'll try moving it and see what happens :)

I believe you can also put them on your arm or shoulder, not the most attractive of things, but prob would look the same as a nicotine patch, might be ok for the winter, and might not itch as much. Check the packet. x

hIHello,I am also using the patch.I haven't had any problems with it at all.Well maybe sometimes if I don't hold it down when I first place it it sometimes curls up and sticks to my jeans.Mostly it is great.I try to move it over a little bit each week.I don't put it in the exact same place.Maybe that could help.

Yeah, I've moved it to the other side of my hip and this week its been fine! No itchiness or anything :)

hi there...ive had all sort of problems with various pills..feeling dizzy and lightheaded mid cycle etc etc..would this patch help do you think? any advice would be great..cheers xx

Yeah, i'd definitely recommend it quibbmedusa. It's just brilliant for me apart from it was a bit itchy. It's great though because you only change it once a week and you can't see it if you put it in the right place. Yeah, definitely go for it :)
