I have turned 46 this year and am finding that I cannot eat a lot of the things that I used to and some of them even make me sick within 30 mins. Could this be the start of the menopause or just my tastes changing.

I think your tastes do change as you get older. I find I cannot tolerate alcohol as much now. In fact, I must admit I am getting worried. I would rather have a cup of tea instead of my usual rum and coke! You have my sympathy as I have just finished the menopause, although I must admit the hot flushes were useful in the winter - kept the heating bills down!
I feel as I get older, and I don't know if it is an age thing, but I am far more fussy with my food -- in fact I seem to be going off meat altogether what with the bird flu and injections animals are given. When I go to a restaurant, it takes absolutely ages to decide what to eat, also I try to keep away from loads of cheese etc so that makes it even more difficult if I am going out for an Italian !
I'm 30 and have become allergic to sweet peppers in the last 18 months! make me sick, I've never been allergic to them before, or anything else for that matter. My guess is that tastes and tolerances just change, but I'm afraid I don't know any scientific reason why they should.
I'm 46 too and entering menopause. All my life I've had a cast-iron stomach - I could eat anything even things like spicy indian take-aways before bedtime and NEVER got heartburn or indigestion. Oh how I wish that was the case now. I have to be so careful with what I eat or I end up sucking rennies all day long. I'm guessing its an age thing !!
