I thought long and hard but seeing a friends persuaded me that yes i did want one for myself but if you need suggestions do you really want one then?? You should have something in your own mind of what it should look like anyway. As i said i'll show you mine in person and any of the persons attending the Excellent answerbank convention on the 22nd of March 2003 can see it as well. we may even persuade Icecoldin to give you a flash of his as well.
I designed my own! At least that way I know that I'm never going to bump into anybody sharing my body-art! I've since been asked to design them for several friends and the local tattoo shop has several sheets of my designs. Seeing somebody sporting one of my designs and knowing it'll more than likely be there when they're old is an odd feeling indeed...
ask yourself why you want a tattoo, is it to be in with the crowd or have you wanted one for a while, why do you want a small tattoo, would you be embaressed by it, or just hide it at work? designing your own tattoo is definetly the best way to go. you cant get more sybolic than your own creation. think about what you would like, start looking at other peoples tattoos, size, shape, location, colour. tattoos have now become so common place they no longer mean what they once did, in the last few years everyone and his dog has been inked. to have a tattoo thats different or extreme today requires drastic steps.
i had my first tat at 14 which i regret as i chose some stupid flash, i have since had to have some large tattoos to cover them. my advice is if your under 18 wait, if you've only just thought about it give it a while and be sure, dont just walk into a tattoo shop and get a tattoo that you have enough money in your pocket for, as most people do on their first tattoo. i love tattoos and have designed my own and for others, but they're not for everyone. its a personal choice. have fun:-)
Hi I've had several hours 'under the needle'I would suggest if you get something small put it somewhere small - nothing looks worse than a tiny little tattoo stuck in the middle of a arm/leg etc, never let money be the deciding factor. If you go to a good tattoist and tell him what your in to he should be able to come up with some ideas/designs. Symbolics good I got TRUE PLAYA accross my back don't regret it now and won't when I'm a pensioner - the nurses will love it in the nursing home!!
Couldn't agree more jamesr! I was scared of needles (still am but injections are totally different to tattoos) so I got something small done. Totally regretted it and got em covered. Looks better now but you can still see the original behind it :(

for some ideas.
I did my own when I was 14 and thank god now that I didn't do or get anymore. I understood tattoos to be isgn of individulality but when every other tom dick and harry has got one, why bother. Bear in mind that this is for the rest of your life (altho I understand tattoo removel is much more efficient now).
Go on dare to be different and don't get a tattoo!
