Every morning on waking I have dry blood in my nose.

I never notice a nose-bleed as such, just notice the blood on blowing my nose in the morning.

Any ideas as to why?

No idea, but I do too. I get very bad blocked sinus and every morning when I blow my nose there is always blood.
Not entirely unusual for this time of year. By that, I mean most houses and businesses we spend a lot of time in during the winter months are abnormally dry. The humidity levels are probably below 8 to 10 percent, where normal humidity is usually around 30 percent. This has a drying effect on mucosa, such as lines the nose and sinuses. When they dry, the underlying mucous producing areas can bleed easily. Try a spritz of any saline product, such as Oceans three or four times a day... at least until spring weather actually arrives...
