All these questions about fat people....... All these tv shows and places like weight watchers etc.

Does anyone have a clue what it is like to actually be too slim? I cant put weight on to save my life and when I bring this subject up most people (especially women) say that I am lucky.... Lucky when I have to shop very carefully for clothes that either dont make me look like mutton (Im 37) or things that just hang off me.

Why is there not a help group for people who actually want to put weight ON ?

I sympathise with you. I have struggled with my weight most of my life. I had a friend just like yourself and always thought how lucky she was being so slim. Then I realised how unhappy she was. She would never wear skirts or have her arms showing because she was too slim. I don't know of any organisations that help people put on weight but I am sure it must be a problem just like losing it.

The trouble is people think you are taking the pi55 when you say you can't put weight on, I know it's serious to the incumbants but most of the population would give their eye teeth to have your "problem" so it's not taken seriously.

You can put weight on, the laws of physics apply to us all, you have to eat more, or exersize and eat a lot more!

Could be a thyroid problem...many years ago I had a lady friend with a similar problem and I think she ended up having some kind of surgery.......maybe you should check out some medical advice.
I've always thought this kat. People don't mind mentioning and laughing about me being thin but they often wouldn't dream of doing that to someone overweight. I find it difficult just maintaining my weight due to a health problem as I can often eat very little for a week or more and so lose any weight I may have gained so for me it's not just a question of stuffing myself with food or I'd get very sick. I wouldn't mind being a stone overweight if I felt healthy with it. People assume I eat what I want and just don't gain weight. The grass is always greener as they say...

Thank you for your answers and I have had my medicals etc to check various things like thyroid, I go to the gym, I salsa every week and I eat a healthy diet. I have even thought about stopping the exercise and living off Big Macs for a month lol. I am about a stone under weight and I TOTALLY agree with mydogsandme when it comes to ridicule about me being skinny, having small breasts etc etc and I personally think it hurts more with being called "Olive Oyl" etc than being called fat to be quite honest.
Hit the nail on the head there...people are SO cautious to say anything about weight gain and your supposed to be a complete moron if you call someone overweight, yet people can be so ruthless when it comes to being skinny and for some reason thats ok. ive been on both sides of the fence, Both clinically obese and anorexic and i found that even if you are BLATENTLY sick people still rip it out of you for being skinny. and how comes magazines can point the finger at skinny people and accuse them of looking scrawny and having ED's etc etc yet if they spoke about overweight people in that way thered be an outcry?

gaahhhh sorry it gets me riled up
