Bras for small chests

Why do women with small breasts wear bras? They obviously don't need them for support.

I think you'll find they do actually - breasts do need proper support to avoid sagging in later life. For comfort, as well as ensuring that clothes hang correctly, and to enhance overall appearence, a bra is a necessary accessory even for the less-endowed lady - or so I'm told, but please feel free to argue, as long as you can speak from experience!

Things like wonderbras can actually enhance the assets of a less well endowed woman quite considerably. I would also think that wearing a bra could prevent chafing when wearing rougher materials.

Andy has said it all - as usual!! It is true that if you don't want your breasts sagging to your knees later in life, you do need to wear a bra for support, no matter how small or big you are! And a bra makes certain clothes look better (whilst no bra can make other clothes look better!) I can't speak from personal experience, however, as I am not small-chested! ;-)

I am really talking flat chest here - where the breasts are so small there is no possibility of sag e.g. Trinny whatsername on "What Not to Wear". She seems to compensate for lack of chest with her protruding nipples. But many such women do wear bras and the only explanation I could think of was that they do not want sticking out nipples a la Trinny. It's a good point from rekstout about using a padded bra to increase apparent size.

OK, David, your guess is quite correct. When I was terribly thin I wore a bra only to make my nipples less obvious. Most of my life I have not worn one and do not subscribe to the bra/sagging theory.

Thanks Janet, it's a rare treat for a woman to tell me I'm correct! Personally, I find the flat chest/sticking out nipples look quite sexy but I can understand that some women might find it embarrassing. It must be an advantage, though, not having to fiddle about with a bra every day. Also, thanks for the laugh, snotmonkey.

when i first started wearing a bra, i wasn't gifted with larger assets, but because i was growing they became, tender and quite painful, a bra helped to stop this. Plus if all your friends get one....

Im a girl (13) and yes girls do want to fit in. Some of us may think we're underdeveloped and just want to seem like we actually have something. Although if a girl with small breasts thinks she has to stuff her bra just to fit in then that is another factor. We are supposed to love our bodies but it's not to easy for girls to see the fully dveloped america when we're not.
