I guess i'd be taken aback, possibly even shocked, because she would have usurped the traditional male role, (and yes, I am a bit of a Chauvanist), although there is nothing to stop a girl from proposing, at any time. If the chap is a 'New Man', he would probably flutter his eyelashes, and accept.

I think it depends. Before proposing to my wife, I spent a great deal of time pondering marriage, and on how I would propose. Had she asked me first, she might have caught me off guard. I probably would have said yes, but I know myself and can say that it is likely I would have had a shocked look on my face - not likely the expression she would expect. So if you're planning to do that, just realise you might catch him quite off guard and unprepared.

its common place in our society now, Traditionally it was the mans role tho, it would'nt bother me but seeing i'm married my wife might have an issue if another woman proposed to me. [ha ha]

I was really shocked, when my husband proposed to me.
He'd been thinking about it for a long time, but for me, being German, where people usually live together for a decade before getting married, it was a real shock.

Well, but about five hours later, I did say YES!

i think i'd be a bit put out - i like the idea of me proposing and would feel more than a little bit annoyed if she beat me to it - spoiling my fun in a way i think ... irrational but honest answer
