Assuming it's not too astringent, or you are tough enough, sprinkle it onto your cupped palms, and 'slap' it gently onto your cheeks, chin and neck straight after you have shaved.

If, like me, this would mean you leaving teethmarks in the basin, and walking round the bathroom trying to get your face between your knees, try the alternative.

Splash the lotion into your cupped palms and rub the left hand over the back of your neck and shoulders, and the right hand over your forehead, and into your hairline (if you have one!) with a final rub down the insides of your forearms.

This will ensure that as your skin heats during the day, you will enjoy a nice slow release, which will waft occasionally, and not overpower everyone within a five-hundred-yard radius.

won't do a lot to calm freshly shaved cheeks, though, andy?
Aftershave is just a complete con invented by the cosmetics industry. There is no need for it. Most of it is alcohol based which actually dehydrates the skin. Far better, if you need it, to use a moisturiser.
I might be wrong, but is the purpose of aftershave not to close the the hair folicals and pores after shaving to prevent dirt getting in them Thus leaving red bumps?
Correct Adampy, a point that should be pointed out to the spotty faced youth of today :-)
