Hi all. Well do women have a mid life crisis? I am 45 this year, youthful I hasten to add!!! :) but yesterday had a real downer day :( And sat there and suddenly thought about what I had done in my life, and what lies ahead. And maybe I should of done more. To be honest I dread hitting the big 50. When I hit 40 people said life begins then. But it came and went. I remember being in my teens, and (this bit for women only) starting my periods, and feeling like I was a "woman" now. And now, the menopause is no doubt approaching (may be why I feel low) And it scares me how quickly that time has gone. Sorry for my ramblings, But does anyone feel the same. Oh, apologies to all you lovely people aged 50 and over. No offence meant....

no point regretting the past, it's what you do in the future that counts. One thing I can tell you is it just seems to go faster and faster. You could cheer yourself up by listing all the things you have done - there must be something in 45 years? - but more to the point, start listing all those things you want to do and plan ways to do them, even if just slowly and one at a time. Bungee jumping, Open University, joining the WI, crossing the Andes on a frog... Go for it, gal!

43 very youthful and wodering where all the time has gone. never had a period so feel im not a real woman anymore... :-) i know ive missed out on a lot of life, but its only now my kids are getting older that i begin to realise. did 20 years in one job that was low paid working 60+ hours a week. was work, but looking back, i missed my kids growing up.. same as you 40 came and went, life didnt begin...have many a day when i think i should of had more, but what do iknow ?

im just a bloke. :-)

old couple sitting by the pool on holiday. the old girl opens a can of pepsi. WHOOOSH, out pops a genie.

"you have such a warm and loving marriage, i can give you one wish each" said the genie.

like a shot the old girl says she would like a year long holiday, visiting all the places she could only dream about before. her wish was granted.

the old guy looked at his mrs and said

"im sorry for what im about to say me love, but i want a wife that is 30 younger than i am." his wish was granted. he instantly became 95 !!!

I'm still in my thirtys,my kids are growing up and i have nothing that i can say i've achieved(apart from my kids)so this year i've started a psychology course that will give me something in my old age,one day i'll have letters after my name, now that would be nice.

Go forward not back it's not that bad I'm 50 this year and having the best years of my life went on to and having the time of my life all sorts there to talk to come have a look tell them Suzie sent you

I'll be 40 this year and am suprised that this prospect is not really worrying me, unlike my 30th which really depressed me. And as jno said there's no point regretting the past, we should look forward to the future and use all the 'life experiance' we've gained so far, to do the things that we've always wanted to do.

I would like to think that if and when I get to my senior years that I can say 'I'd rather regret the things I did do, than regret the things I didn't!'

So don't worry Minxie, we all get days like you've described. Try making a list of all the things you'd like to do, even the weird and unusual and if the oppotunity ever arises go for it.

don't worry about it Minxie, i'm in the middle of a mid-twenties crisis! I think we all get moments where we question where our life is going and why things haven't turned out the way we thought they would. You just sound like you're stuck in a little rut. You need to find a new hobby or even have a massive clear out at home. I often do this and feel much lighter in myself afterwards. Also i started a list of things to do before i hit 30...one was learn to ride a motorbike...and i did, another was to complete a course....am now half way through an Open Uni degree...... you need to just stand back and re-assess then take control and not just go with the flow because thats when the time flies TOO quick

Thank you all for replying. Jno is right, there is no good me regretting the past, or that the past has gone so quickly. It happens to us all. I know. Maybe I was just having a really bad day. But mkt yes I am in a rut, you were spot on there, its getting my muddled head sorted. One thing at a time rather than trying to tackle everything at once is what I will try to aim for.

But thank you all again for taking the time to reply xx

They sure do. And when they act on their feelings, they seem not to worry about who they hurt, husband, children, reputation, anything. I know, I was a victim. And she never came back.
