It doesn't really hurt anyway as they give you local anaesthetic to numb it all. Its worth going to a dentist at some point, because all your teeth are important, having bad teeth untreated can actually make you very ill.Don't worry if you're scared of them, most are reaaly nice and if you tell them you are afraid they will do their best to reassure you.
As lizwizz has already said you don't always have to have them removed, I did however as I developed an abcess on one of them (worse than childbirth!!!) and another looked iffy too, so they decided to take them all out (4) out.
I spent a few hours in hospital, then came home looking like i'd been smacked in the face with a frying pan! But other than that it wasn't as bad as I'd expected.
Don't worry about them. Most people don't have to have them out. If they overcrowd your mouth or push on other teeth the dentist may suggest you have them out (or you can ask him) but they try to avoid taking them out if possible. It's worth getting a dentist and going for a check up once year as they can check your teeth and gums and if anything's wrong with anything can sort it before it causes any problems.
