Thanks for that, Jenny. At least a third of AnswerBank categories I never - ever! - even so much as open, never mind offer answers in. I must assume, therefore, that Word Butcher operates within one or more of those. Spelling-correctors with little or nothing else to say have come and gone over the years, so I would tend to ignore them, personally.

It's not me, but really, can you be proud of being a poor speller. Surely some effort on your part to improve would make your postings much more interesting, and it comes across as being from a mature intelligent person. Poor spelling just gives the impressions of coming from the opposite. Unschooled and ignorant. And who will take notice of what they say. Keep trying and get hold of a dictionary and a thesaurus, a book that explains words. Good luck.

d'you know what Pugwash...my spelling and grammar are pretty good, and I could tell you how to spell even very long tricky words if you asked. but when I'm typing on here, esp when involved in some sort of debate, I often mis spell things as much thru poor/speedy typing as anything else so I often spell the as teh, and as adn etc I don't think bad spelling is a sign of ignorance, it could even be dyslexia after all, and dyslexic people aren't stupid you know.

I quite like WB. He does it with a bit of style and flair, and never has a dig, as all he does is correct errors. there are spelling/grammar facists on here tho who pick people up on things in quite a nasty way, and that's just poor, ineccessary, shallow and, in my view, fairly ignorant.

I have just seen summink hilarious...I was looking at a thread on the TV & Film about Parky and Andy Hughes answered and used the word professional - only he made a typo switchin a cupple of letters.

For joke I was gonna correct his spellin, but I moved down the thread and Word Butcher already had !!
