Anti-abortionists
This question is to people who are against abortion.
What are you reasons for being against someone having an abortion? I am interested in people who's reasons are something other than religion.
Why does it really matter to you what a stranger does?

Other people having abortions doesn't bother me as it's their choice but after reading your post about teen pregnancy saying your fed up with it then why does it bother you what strangers do?I'm a great mum to my 5month old son but only 17 so age doesn't make a difference in my case and a lot of other good teenage parents who don't get mentioned.
Well , For me its pretty simple.. first off its against what I believe in.. second what is the difference between killing the baby when its in the mother compaired to out of the mother (Its wrong).. therd- its NOT birth control (wich so many people seem to use it for). People are not dumb they know sex makes babys. Forth- for people who abort babys because there missing a leg or some defect, its really sad because they are saying that this child in there eyes is not perfect ... What about when people get damaged later in life and become disabled, We cant kill them can we?.. I guess the bottom line with me jelly-baby is it is killing.. and I dont agree with it at all.. I could go more into detail about this subject. but I wont.. its not really a positive one to chat about... A when you read this J-B I hope I dont seem to come a cross with any sort of attitude.. I was just stating my answer in a fact form..
Have a good day.. JEN
I don't advocate abortion because I believe it is wrong, you can take the right precautions and prevent unwanted pregnancy, although accidents happen. The only time I believe I would consider an abortion is if I were raped. I am not religious, far from it.
I would not go all out and protest against it as people are free to make there own decisions and to suffer the consequences of that decision. Although I would never support it either. I had a pregancy scare at 18 (Protection was used) and not once did it enter my mind to kill/abort what would have been my child. I was relieved to find out that I wasn't pregnant at the time (way to young) but I would have at least had my child, if I could not support that child then I have had to think about adoption.
I do believe people have the right to make there own decision, but who has the right to decide for and unborn human being? - its a moral dilema
I have actually forced myself to be pro choice because it is the right thing that women never again feel the terror of knowing they have to give birth to a child under duress. However, on a purely personal level, I am very much against abortion because to me it is morally wrong. People seem to think they have a choie about becoming parents by having an abortion. They are wrong. They simply have the choice of being the parent of a live baby or a dead one.
I would never presume to try to dictate what another person does, and I know how much people agonise over their decisions but in my heart of hearts I could never reconcile it happening to my child (I am male by the way) unless my partners life was in danger.
She now has 4 children by the same man as she has only ever had one partner.
It has been 14 years since that termination and she told me recently that never a day goes by that she doesn't think about that baby, never a day goes by that she doesn't inwardly, and often outwardly cry for the decision she made. She said that in hindsight outcast would have been preferable to the feeling of loss she still feels.
Nothing prepared her for how to live with the consequences of the choice she made.
My view on abortion is that it is entirely up to the woman who is pregnant. I don't consider it to be 'murder' - after all, if the foetus was not in the womb, it would not survive (well, up to the legal limit anyway).
Nearly everyone who has answered on here is against abortion for themselves but not against it in general.
It is interesting that no one has replied who actually campaigns for abortion to be made illegal. They are the people I was really questioning, purely because I am interested to know what it is that makes them feel so strongly about another person having an abortion. Perhaps these people are few and far between or maybe they just don't want to respond.
I think what jelly-baby means from the last post is that it is interesting to note that all the replies against abortion seem to indicate that the posters aren't looking at a blanket ban, but are against abortion as a choice for themselves. I couldn't spot any 'Let's ban abortion' posts either which I personally find a good thing.
I would prefer that the abortion limit was lowered ~ that is my only opinion at this time.
Jennykins- I couldn't agree with you more, yet I'm totally pro-choice. Your 4th point regaurding people who abort babies because of an deformaty is totally hearbreaking to me. The guy a few days ago (Laurence2) that was inquiring about his relative that is pregnant with a baby who has edwards syndrome, the entire issue was very upsetting, but most of all that a majourity of peole agreed to have it terminated at 4 months~!!! My God, 4 months!! I was just disgusted, and mortifyed. I do not mean to judge, as we ALL make poor decisions--especially myself. I do think there are times when it is necessary, but I think more limits need to be applied to the law.
Jellybaby- When my sister was 16 she got pregnant, and I pushed her to have an abortion which she ended up doing. I was devasted but we didn't have the means to support the child, and her boyfriend was abusive an an alcoholic. I did do some research though, and if you google abortions and click on Images.......you'll see what an abortion consists of. I used to think it was ok, but the process is comlete murder. Let me know what you think. cheers
