Birthday gift ideas for teminally ill dad
Hi , my dad has been diagnosed with secondary bone cancer. He's a great dad and i adore him.
It's his birthday soon and i'm struggling to think of a special gift to buy him.
He doesn't eat much because his medication makes him feel ill, he can't drive anymore or walk much.
I've thought abouit a dvd or book, but you only watch/read them once.
Any ideas will br really appreciated - thanks x

This is a book for him to fill out. It asks questions, that someday you will be able to share with your kids to remember small details that people may forget. Things like "Where was your first kiss", "How did you propose to mom?", "Who was your best friend when you were a kid?", "What was is like when your first child was born?", etc. The book is pretty long, and it's filled with all sorts of questions for him to answer including questions about HIS parents and HIS grandparents and extended family. This way his legacy and his stories will go on forever through his own words,...not just your own, or your familys interpretaions. This book will then be handed down your family tree, it is a gift that keeps giving for ever. Hope this idea helped.
Your father is in my prayers. xxxcheers
My father (who died 3 months ago) appreciated several practical gifts that made his life easier.
I gave him a nurses fob watch when he could no longer wear a wristwatch and couldn't see the wall clock clearly.
He also had a car swivel seat, a portable raised loo seat for when he went out for the day. If he had still been with us the next present was to have been a raincoat / cape to wear in his wheelchair.
my dad died about 2 years ago... but this is not about what him, more like about me in his situation... for christmas, my wee boy gave me one of these really cheapo little stand-up plaques...
"for a super dad...
this guardian angel has been sent to watch over your each day..." etc etc....
that means a lot to me, cos my wee boy chose it and bought it for me... musta cost 1.99 ? that means more to me than anything else...
don't think of 'useful' gifts, think of meaningful ones...
my heart goes out to you...
