scottish smoking ban

Now i am a smoker and ive had the most comfortable weekend in pubs due to the ban...great for kids and staff too........i think we are all smoking less too so it cant be a bad thing. anyone else going mental or upset by it?

I lived in NYC for the past 3 years, and I loved when they passed the law. I smoke here and there but not as much when I go out because we can't smoke inside, It's great, and I don't go home reaking of cigs. It's much healthier for everyone!

too right...i feel like a leper and its only gonna get worse...should give up eventually i hope...ehhh off for one now though!! hehe

Someone tried to tell me that there had been riots over the smoking ban. I live in pretty much the city centre of glasgow and didn't notice a thing different. Other than that I don't smell like I've been rolling about in an ashtray all night after a night out :)

I also live in Scotland and I can honestly say that all the debates and moaning and lamenting went on before the ban.No-one mentioned it at the weekend - the smokers had a good craic while they had a few puffs and then nipped their fag.I have just came back from the Pub Quiz which is usually really bad and not one person mentioned it.When I left there was a couple of folk having a fag and I cracked a joke with them saying-you come out for fresh air and all you get is fag reek - everyone laughed.

Best thing thats happened - pal of mine who would normally be on his second 20 in 2 hours had 5 fags and didnt even notice.

Why did all of these people go to smoking pubs if they didn't like going home smelling of smoke? Why didn't they just go to a non-smoking pub?

Gef: A non-smoking pub? In Glasgow? There were about 3 and they were all Wetherspoons. No ta. And are you suggesting we all don't go to a club - ever - because we don't like the stench of fags?

The smoking ban is the best thing to have ever happened to my social life! :D

Malaise, I know there wasn't a great choice of non-smoking pubs (I also live in Glasgow) but at least non-smokers had a choice. Why weren't there a lot of non-smoking pubs? No demand?

Now, I have no choice unless I want to stand outside and freeze.

"They" say that smoking can kill. So can hyperthermia that all smokers will get by standing outside in the cold.
