but can i just say that i broke someone's heart a couple of years back. we were in a long term relationship but things hadn't been right for a while. my life was on track but his was falling apart. i tried desperately for 2 years to make it work but then i realised that all i felt for him was pity and that the respect had gone. i tried to end it many a time but he pulled on my heart strings. in the end we had a big argument and i took my opportunity; told him it was over and that i never wanted to see him again. i wrote him a letter to explain but we never really had 'the chat'.
when he sees me in the street now he blanks me and his friends tell me he still can't move on. im sure he thinks i'm an awful person but the truth is sometimes relationships don't work. sometimes you fall out of love with someone and you can't help it. sometimes u think you can make it work but you can't. it doesn't make u a bad person.
i have carried the guilt of this breakup for a long time; but all i did was fall out of love with someone. i know this must be awful for you but at least he had the guts to end it rather than string you along. sometimes it's just as hard to be the 'dumper' as the 'dumpee'.
