Can anyone help with this? I just feel SO miserable at the moment.

Am trying to find another job in my industry (journalism), but can't. Just started seeing a girl who has promptly dumped me as "it wasn't working."

Don't worry, I'm not at the stage where I'm going to do something foolish, but I can't see a way out of things - I just want something positive to hang on to - but can't find it.

Do you have any tips on how to bring myself back up?

honey, been there!! unfortunately i was on the verge of doing something silly but didnt have the guts to do it!!

i developed an eating disorder thru it and thats when i went to the doc and i was told i had depression...duh!!!!

anyway he put me on medication and i see a councellor now and i feel a million times better.

if you dont feel you want to go down that road why not take a break away from things and take yourself off somewhere...have you spoken to friends and family about it?

take care xx

My little life was put into perspective regarding lifes trials and tribulations, many years ago when i visited a childrens cancer ward on the monday, and a downs syndrome school on the tuesday as part of a works experiance.ive got my life scars as anyone has but believe me if anyone wants to know what the meaning of love is; look at the parents and staff in these specialist enviroments,we can pick ourselfs up and dust ourselfs down how lucky is that.good look

I've been there too. Felt very tearful all the time and could not hold a conversation with anyone if my ex's name was brought up without crying. I also found that I would wake really early (4-5am) and not be able to sleep.

The doctor told me I was depressed and gave me anti-depressants. I took them for two days but really didn't want to be on them so I stopped. In the end, I somehow made my mind stronger and told myself that I would cope with it. I kept myself busy with work, gym, seeing friends etc. I felt better within a week.

I hope things pick up for you soon. Good luck.

Well, let's look at the good things in your life. You (apparently) have a job at the moment. . You may not like it very much t but I imagine it's allowing you to pay your bills so that you're not deeply in debt. It's allowing you to hold your head up high in the "self-respect" stakes and it's giving you some kind of identity. You have a roof over your head, food in your stomach, and your health, So, although you're feeling down at the moment, you have quite a lot to be grateful for. Perhaps your former girlfriend just couldn't cope with your negative outlook on life. We all have "Down" periods in our lives. It's a case of hangng on emotionally to the positive things, and trying to do a few small things every day which perhaps enhance the lives of others. Try and keep yourself busy. The less time you have or introspection, the better. Gentle exercise definitely does help, either walking or swimming. Give yourself a few little daily positive targets to achieve and a few small treats when you achieve them. And before the Easter break, get yourself a couple of good books to read so that if you find yourself on your own, you don't let boredom or self-pty overtake you. have you visited your local library lately. They usually have lots of videos and DVD's as well.

Hi if youve seen any of my previous posts youll know what Ive been going through, you have to try and find the positives out of the negatives, at the moment mum in law is ill and ive no work but my positive view is that at least Im able to ferry around my wife and keep the house going however untidily

Best Wishes
