At the end of the 40 days and 40 night of lent , if you have been good and given up all your luxury foods for that period of time, if you havn't then the eggs stay in Woolies!
Usually Sunday, but if, like this weekend, I will be seeing mum and brother on Saturday then they have them then but under strict instructions that they are not to be opened until Sunday (and 2am Sunday morning when bro is on his way home does not count - you have to wake up and eat them!).
Its normally on Easter sunday, but its a shame that people forget that Easter is about christianity and Jesus rising again from death proving that through christ there is everlasting life. Its not all about bunnies and chocolate and our christian festivals are always taken over by commercialism and silly fads! But i do give and get easter eggs, but think of them in the true meaning-life. We also used to boil/bake normal hens or duck eggs. colour and decorate them and either eat them on sunday or keep them for future years with the year on it.
