Problems with Zantac

I was prescribed Zantac (300 mg / day) from GP for bad indigestion and had to stop taking it because of nasty side effects - lost appetite, bad taste in my mouth when waking and then starting to feel depressed. Has anyone else had these problems with it? I stopped taking it 2 weeks ago, and although the side effects have improved, I'm still not right and wish I'd never set eyes on the damn stuff! Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help. I have discovered that it was Piriton that was causing the problem - I had started taking it because the Zantac also made me very itchy!! I think it was just continuing the problems! Maybe I'm just an allergic type! I feel much better now, so thanks for your support.

If you have bad indigestion all or most of the time, consider getting a prescription for Omeprazole, Nexium or some other acid blocker. They work (a pill a day) by reducing the amount of acid that the stomach produces. It takes a day or two for them to start working, but they are much better than having to treat the indigestion after the fact.

You may be able to get Prilosec OTC which is a non-prescription over-the-counter medicine that basically works the same as Omeprazole and Nexium.
