Opinions have changed over the years inej; 50 years ago, they were mostly regarded as the dregs of society; in these more sexually open days, they get a certain amount of grudging respect and even envy (like yours); who's to say their work is any more degrading than stacking shelves at Tesco's? Having said that, I'd find it a bit hard to deal with if I knew my daughter was one; I'd sooner she was in Tesco's. But it's up to you to decide: would you like the high life if that was how you had to pay for it? Your call.
Remember that she is having paid sex with strangers.
This could lead to her catching HIV or AIDS or other sexual illness.
She could also meet a violent person and find herself in a very dangerous position with a man or men she does not know.
I know the above things could happen to anybody, but it is far more likely in the world she is living in.
Also remember one day she will tire of all that and want to settle down, but may well have trouble finding a partner with her background.
Or is she a prostitute, where she takes money to sleep with people.
The two are completely different and I find it strange that everyone who has posted above has not differentiated between the two.
Being an escort is a mere euphemism for prostitution. Escorts do not merely follow men to dinners (though that is just part of their job requirement), they also sleep with such men if requested to do so.
The risks involved, the dangers of falling into the hands of abusive men and the self deprecating feelings it brings later in life are all better avoided.
It's a great euphemism "escort" isn't it.
Certainly it's remarkable that it seems sufficiently acceptable for averts in the local papers.
There always seems to be one "Escorts in the privacy of your own home".
Now my sense of direction isn't the greatest but I've never felt the need to be escorted to the kitchen!
My take on it is I'd rather a relative of mine made money like that than in the arms trade for example.
Hi..i think most of you have forgotten its illegal to take money for sex..so your sister is braking the law. Escorts are just prostitutes who charge more for there services, as they are not normally on drugs and being pimped by some low life (unless they work for an agency) Having worked in some classy hotels i've seen my fair share of "escorts" and they always ALWAYS end up staying the night with the punter. Your sis may be living the high life right now but what about her future? What if she has kids...will they be able to deal with the fact there mother was an "escort" coz stuff like that normaly come out when they go to school. Oh and lets not forget the health risks, STD's, HIV, AIDS.
I dont care what anybody says, the world will always need prostitutes. As long as men are wanting and willing to pay for sex, they will be needed. Its not a nice thing, but lets not be nieve about it. Im just glad I dont have to do it. Brothels and escort services should be legalised to help end the abuse, slavery and exploitation of many vulnerable, desperate women.
I don't think it's illegal to take money for sex - it's illegal to solicit - a subtle but rather important difference!
As to all the health risks, it's true but then the risks are probably less than most sexually active teenagers face. I doubt most escorts would dream of having unprotected sex!
It's a spurious argument anyway. I don't know anybody who's saying that you shouldn't become a doctor or a nurse because of the risks of MRSA in hospitals these days. Or that you shouldn't become a fireman because you might get killed.
Effectively it's a matter of a moral judgment being made on the "job" and a health justification being pasted on top to give the appearence of rationalality
