Is it right that rapists and paedaphiles are beaten and attacked in prison?

personally i don't think that you are wrong to think like that. there is never any justice for the victims. i have to say if i was raped the thought of the perpetrator getting five years inside would be of no comfort to me. these criminals need to be punished. i hope that the mesely five or so years they often get for ruining someone's life will be as miserable experience as possible (and if that includes them reguarly getting the s**t kicked out of them i couldn't care less!)

I wouldn't say it was the right thing but I must admit when someone tells me its happened I don't tend to give a sh1t! I don't think one less paedophile or rapist bothers the world much!

i think its only a smidgen of what they deserve!! lets face it, if us on the outside attempted it we would be banged up, so why not let those who are already in there do as much damage as possible and make their life hell?? i still say castrate them and tattoo what they have done on their foreheads!!

all violence is wrong. Although I am not an incredibly religious person I believe no right can come off a paedaphile having the sh*t beaten out of him. He may deserve it, yes, but that does not mean he should get this 'extra' punishment. He /she will serve the time and if he was to be hanged then he should be, but extra crime inside of a jail is not required. They all have a long time to think abot what they have done. I have not experienced paedophilia abuse in my life ( and i hope i never will) but if i did maybe my view would change. Evil, disgusting people they are but they are getting enough punishment as they need, at the time anyway. Wishing for them to obtain mre pain makes us more and more like them, my view may change the more i think about it. It is a serious issue and crime within prisons is an issue that should be dealt with more seriously than at the present time.

i do know a girl that was the victim of multiple rape.

you can think of it, she endured it.

i think at the time she was about 14-15 so was a victim of rapists (two men) and paedophiles.

nothing will ever change my views on the subject, EVER !!!

sorry, lindapinda. I think paedaphiles should be locked up much longer than they already are. Recently a man who raped a 9 year old was put away for 5 years! appalling. He'll be out before you know it.

what im saying is, that violence in any way is not right. A paedophile abuses but its not right for that paedophile to be abused as that would make us as bad as him and thus lowering ourselves to his level. Yes, he /she require adequite punishment but not to a standard of chaotic proportions. I have no sympathy for them at all, just stating what i believe is all.

Not mentioning names,but my ex is a prison officer at the high security Whitemoor prison in March,Cambs,and he told me that when a prisoner comes in that has hurt a child or a woman,the cell door is "accidentally" left open .Im not saying whether thats right or wrong,but thats what happens.

Good Question, Yes let them mix with the robbers and violent offenders and let them have a hiding every day they are in there, I can't stand paedos or rapists, maybe they might not want to molest or rape again if they know they are going to get a beating,why should they be protected? they don't care about the lives they have ruined,

People are in prison for a reason but I dont think its wrong, Peadaphiles and rapists are the lowest of the low.

i read recently that angela cannings was attacked etc in prison after being convicted of killer her own child - obviously we all now know that she was innocent and has been released... must have been a living hell for her in prison not being able to grieve for her child properly and being hated and attacked whilst those in charge "accidently" left her cell door open etc.

i know the above is off topic but thought it was worth thinking about - while i understand the anger of people in a position to hurt offenders (or turn a blind eye) we have a justice system in place complete with judge and jury we shouldn't allow further unofficial punishment. Now if we want stronger offical punishment then thats another matter for discussion.

Hi Undercovers - I know what you are saying.I m not saying its right,I just know that is what goes on,but I have to say that most cases I was told about was when the inmate had actualy confessed and so was 100% guilty.And these inmates would taunt the prison officers looking after them by saying they would like to rape etc their daughters,wives etc. Very difficult topic I know.

I have repeated my take on this aspect of our society many times, but i will go again for anyone who has not seen it before -

Laws are what make us civilised. The law decress that prison for a set time is the punishment for certain offences, and that is what should be carried out. If the law is weak, or wrong, or badly applied, those issues need to be addressed, but vigilanye violence is simply not an appropriate way to deal with these issues.

I completely understand that motivatiob behind these actions, and the support they receive, but I have to repeat that vigilanteism is simply not a way to condcut justice, and if justice is not served by the law, then the law should be changed. It is not for any self-appointed individual(s) to decide the level and severity of violence to be meted out to offenders.

That said, holding this view causes my head to hurt when I read of some of the minor sentencing that is issued to such offenders, but i can only repeat, the law is weak and badly applied, vigilane violence is not a substitute, and never should be considered as one.

If anyone harmed my kids, they wouldn't get a chance to do time. I would hunt them down and kill them myself. I would be more than happy to serve my time for it! I don't say this lightly because i am a very gentle person and can't imagine killing anyone but i'm afraid, that would be my breaking point. How these parents cope knowing some scum is out there that either hurt or worse still, killed their child is beyond me. they are so very brave, i wouldn't be able to cope! I know this isn't the idea of a civilized society but they don't belong in it either! My neice was attacked last year by 3 women from a gang of 4. The feelings it creates are are incredibly strong. she was 12 by the way! thy are now in Holloway serving between 18months and 3 years! and yes, i hope they get the **** kicked out of them everyday. In answer to your question, no, you're certainly not wrong to feel that way!
