Resuscitation Volunteers
4 Answers
Following on from Bluedolphin's question... I recently saw a training video showing footage from the 1950s & '60s about the pioneering of CPR. In it, volunteers were drugged to render them unconscious and medical students attempted different methods of CPR.
Would you be willing to volunteer for this???!!!

Yes, Boognish, you're right there, and I'm not suggesting anyone should do that. The question was a hypothetical one based on the fact that early pioneers of CPR injected volunteers with drugs to render them incapable of breathing for themselves. They were strictly monitored, of course, levels of oxygen being the key factor used to determine the effectiveness of different techniques. But the point I was making was that in those days, nobody was absolutely sure which methods actually worked... Now on that basis, would you volunteer???!
