any ideas where i can find out how many people are affected by a pilonidal sinus each year in the uk?

dont know the figures but i think its common among young people

I have read is approximately 1/100 of 18-40 year old males, 1/1000 in females of the same age group (due to females being less hairy)


Certain factors increase the risk of developing the condition and include:

-Sedentary occupation (sitting a lot).
-Obesity.
-A previous persistent irritation or injury to the affected area.
-A family history of the condition.
