To lose 7lbs then still maintain the weight even though you weren't sticking to your diet is very good going! You just need to get back on to it. I lost over a stone back in January, but like you things got in the way and I put off my exercise DVD, ate crappy food and slowly some of the weight has crept back on, but as of yesterday I am back on the diet, doing parts of my DVD.
Just see it as a minor slip up, your only human :o)
Hello Kazzi,
chin up love, what about doing a joint diet with your boyfriend? and when you feel a bit peckish eat an apple or some grapes, one good thing to help is drink a large glass of water 10 minutes or so before you eat,and when you do eat use smaller plates, tell you what I am going on a diet why don't we do it together? I am sure others on here would join in as well, then we could put a post on every couple of weeks and spur each other on,what about it? I need to lose about 2stone to return to being an addonis,i'll do it if you will!!
let us know, take care, Ray
When I need to lose a few pounds I simply remind myself that I need food to live; I don't live to need food! Then I focus on my 5 portions of veg/fruit per day (that's pretty difficult for me at the best of times!) and the weight tends to fall off. But if I fancy a naughty treat then I have one. And I don't beat myself up about it either.
I only have one life to live so I'm not going to spend it miserable and dieting!! xxx
Champage - you're so right!! Im not actually calorie counting - im just eating lots of veg, fruit, lean meat etc and cycling but its true - the sec I try and be really good I want the things that I dont normally crave. Now I never buy chocolate - ever - but because Im trying to lose weight my sons easter eggs keep calling "eat me"
But you do only live once,so I should try and focus on the good changes I have made I guess.Im just impatient - I want results NOW!! LOL
Hi Kazzianne- Thanks for responding to my Anxiety post.
It sounds like your doing great! What helps me to stay healthy is changing the way I think about my meals. Dont put too many limits on yourself, and don't feel guilty for over-eating occassionaly. If you want pizza then eat half a slice and have a small salad. If you want a candy bar, take two bites an then eat an apple. Try not to think of it as "Dieting", just think of it as being healthy. The portions we eat is usually what causes excess weight. If you deny yourself foods that you like, it can cause stress. If I am craving french fries and Im stuck eating a salad, I usually don't feel full if I don't eat what I want, and then the FOOD is always on my mind. So I compromise. I'll buy a small fry, and a side salad with fat-free dressing. I eat what I want when I want, but in moderation. I promise that if you excersice and eat this way, you will loose weight and keep it off forever. -Not just for a year or 6 months. You will see a difference in your lifestyle and in your self-control.
I have tried dieting, joined Weight Watchers and Rosemary Conley, etc. Nothing worked because I was thinking of food all the time and planning meals etc. Dieting makes people obsessed with food, and makes them feel like a failure if they don't lose weight. Slimming Clubs are big business are there purely to make money and so many people that shed loads of weight put it all back on afterwards. I know because it happened to me.
So a couple of months ago I decided to just eat what I wanted but have much smaller portions, drink loads of water, get some more exercise, reduce my fat and sugar intake and eats lots of veg and fruit. However, I still have the odd cake, etc. and never feel hungry. Together with Paul McKenna's book 'I can make you thin' with it's enclosed CD, my new frame of mind has meant that I have now lost 14 lbs. in 8 weeks and I feel loads better. What's more the weight is still coming off gradually.
If I can do it so can anyone!
Don't feel like a failure kazzianne - you are certainly not.
