In a bid to beat insomnia i stopped drinking caffeine from about lunchtime onwards, and basically drink decaffeinated drinks or hot chocolate in the afternoon or evening. Since then i sleep like a baby 5 minutes after my head hits the pillow which is fantastic but, i have noticed that now i get very vivid (and sometimes bizzarre) dreams - is this a 'lack of caffeine' side-effect or down to something else?

I know that you dream more if you eat later in the evening. Incidently, hot chocolate (or any type of chocolate) is also a stimulant.
could be. Caffeine has effects on neurotransmitter secretion. It should settle down though if it is caffeinic withdrawal
