Our Doctors practice has got a check in where you touch a screen to confirm arrival for your appointment. It is a very large practice with 12 Doctors. As everyone touching it is probably ill and contagious I hate the thing. I also avoid door handles during the flu season. Am I being neurotic ?

wrap your finger in a tissue before touching the screen.

talk to your doctor about it.
yes
isn't it funny that if you do wrap your finger up in something or wear gloves those touch screens don't work - why is that!
You are so neurotic you should go and see a doctor as soon as possible.
tellboy's not neurotic Gef, If my surgery had this touch screen thing I'd be the same. I mean..all those germs Ach yr fi.
Boots sell a hand hygiene gel made by Cuticura. The small size fits neatly into a handbag or pocket, and is easy and pleasant to use. It smells of cucumber, and is guaranteed to kill 99.99% opf germs within 15 seconds. You only need a tiny amount. I use it when I can't avoid iffy lavatories.

Is it any different to using a cash point, public telephone (ugh) or how about the change in your pocket? You never know where that's been!!

I would have thought just sitting in the waiting room was riskier than touching a screen - not many people have diseases in the tips of their fingers (except lepers, perhaps), but many of them are likely to be breathing in and out with their diseased lungs.

I'm not sure if any studies have been done of transmission of influenza by door handles.
