The damage permanent extensions can cause is breakage of your own hair where the extensions are connected, and patch BALDNESS (!) due to your own hair being pulled at the root.
Personally I wouldn't go down the permanent extensions route. They're very expensive, it would be difficult to wash and dye your hair, you're not supposed to use conditioner because it breaks down the glue, and it damages your own hair. It also costs a lot of money to maintain as you need to get them re-set when your own hair grows in.
Maybe try clip-ins first to see if you like them? Then you can sleep with them out, which must be so much more comfortable :)
dont get the real ones!!! especially not on lighter coulor hair as they ruin it, itch and end up looking like rats tails as the fall out in clumps. You can spot real extensions a mile off.
Get the gule in ones - they are so easy to glue in and doesnt take long. All you have to do to get them out is put loads of conditioner in and they slide out. Then you;ll be left with the remaining glue so get some (CHEAP) conditioner and cover your scalp in it and leave on for hours - as long as you can and comb through. It all comes out and is good condition after. You can then get it lightened etc and whack em back in when its done! Ive found that if, after a few weeks of using the same hair, (of course you do wash it in between!) cover it in a serum and leave for half an hour and rinse off - it just gives the hair a new boost of life!! They say on packets not to but it works very well and means you have to buy the hair less often!!
