Bruises ???

I had a fall recently and hurt my lower back. It was very stiff for a while, but now that it is getting better the hard area around the point of impact has turned into a big soft lump!

Is this normal? I have already been to the hospital and had x-rays so nothing is broken. Will this lump just break up and go away?

Any experience or knowledge will be most welcome!

Sorry, I forgot to say, the lump feels like a squashy hot water bottle!
it might be a lump of fat that has gathered there. You often get them when you injure joints, massage it regularly cause these can turn hard. if you see your doctor he might recommend some ultrasound treatment to disperse the fat. Thats if that is what it is, of course.
I walked into something once and walloped my shin quite badly. It bruised for ages and then when the bruise went I was left with a little hard lump under my skin. It was called a Fatty Necrosis I think and it just diappeared in the end (after a year or so!). I've heard of people having similar thinks cut out.
