Gave up smokling at the end of January and replaced the cigarettes with food! Have consequently put on about 1 stone in weight and need to lose it before the end of June. Any bright ideas????

Sorry, erm there's no easy reply to this - you must cut down on the food and increase the amount of exercise you do, if possible

Atkins diet is good for quick weightloss but I think it is harmful in the long term. My brother does it all the time to get into his kilt for weddings!!
I'm exactly the same, gave up last October put on a stone and that weight seems to be where I am staying. :-(

well done for quitting. jst try regular exercise to help get rid of a few pounds and a healither diet if your not already on one.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news! i gave up smoking and ate like a horse, i put 2 stone on over the years,i am trying my hardest to loose it but it just wont shake!!


not everyone is the same and i hope you find it easy to loose the weight!!.....then you can tell me how!!

I have to do alot of exercise to keep the weight off as I love food and have a big appetite. Some of my friends smoke and drink loads off coffee. I know which I would rather do as I would hate to stink like an ashtray and coffee breath makes me wretch!
tesco have started selling slimming patches = speed up metabolic rate and stop hunger pangs, 10.00 for 2 weeks worth.
Atkins will do it but at the risk of muscle wastage which makes it harder to lose weight should you put it on again. Permanent weight loss needs a combination of muscle building (weights) ad cardio vascular exercise (general sports, walking etc). The first turns your body into a fat burning machine 24/7 and it doesnt mean looking like Arnie, the second uses up the excess energy stored in Fat. Anyone who is serious about weight loss needs to avoid alcohol becasue the body turns its attention to processing it leaving food metbolism to default fat storage. Also you are less disciplined with food/exercise when hungover/drunk

Replacement therapy I call it and willpower like the thing that stopped you smoking must be employed once more

I also gave up in January and used the money I'm saving to join the gym. If you really want to loose the weight in a month join a gym (I got �40 a month for a minimum of 3 months membership), go about 6 times a week. It sounds a lot but you only have a month. This is what I did and I really enjoy going, never thought I would.

chew chewing gum wen ur hungry till the taste totally goes out of it, then eat and it will taste like mint so hopefully u'll eat less or later!

i know how you feel this time i packed in the fags found i was diebect 2 so can not replace food for fags this time so no fags strict diet hardly no drink i,am jioning the nunery next mouth, it is awful well done for getting so far try increasing exercise, little things like walk more; look for low fat versions of all your favroite food join a slimming club the first week of any diet allways sees good results because of the extra water we lose, and this good first week will spur you on; all so find somthing in the shops you love in a size smaller everyweek go in and try it and this will encourage you to keep going hope this helps and good luck
the quickest way i know how to lose a stone in 2 weeks is the baked bean diet. fruit for breakfast then bake beans on toast for dinner, exercise for 30 to 1hr inbetween and bake beans on toast for evening meal, weight will fall after 5 days just stick to it and you should do it. i done this 2 weeks before mates wedding and worked for me.

Sorry to be the joy-breaker but there are no magic quick fixes.


Don't go ruin your health on stupid diets that will make you feel worse off and make you put on even more weight when you start eating normally again. You can't control your body like a machine and decide to press a button to loose weight all of a sudden. It takes discipline and a bit of time to get back on track.


Ditch sugary and sweet foods, processed foods, fats and fried foods. Try to follow the Gillan McKeith or Carol Vorderman regimes, they're very healthy. After a few weeks, I bet you wont enjoy junk food as much. One last thing: persevere! Best of luck.

Gave up smoking 7 months ago after 15 years at 20 a day


Not eating more but certainly drinking more. Am currently trying to lose weight and get fitter - tips from me then


1. Diets don't really work. Just watch what you eat, stay off the take-aways and eat half of what you would normally


2. If you're going to drink, go for wine - stay away from beer!


3. If you need to snack, get something like celery to munch on


4. Exercise! go for a combination of weight training and cardio-vascular. Join a gym and ask them to put a training plan together for you


Good luck and stick with it. 'tis not easy

You can try hypnosis as more of a long term fix, I went on a course last year to a Paul McKenna training day, and was hypnotised to lose weight. I found it really enjoyable and lost weight and kept it off. I still hypnotise myself on a regular basis just to make sure it stays off. Try buying one of his books with a CD such as 'I can make you thin' or 'Easy Weight Loss', they're ace!!

June is almost over, but if you start today/tomorrow you will prob lose half a stone. i go to weight watchers. you can eat what you want but can not go over your daily points. where do you live?
