Does anyone know why I get hiccups after eating really fresh bread? My mother and my son do too, but I don't know of anyone else it happens to. On the plus side I'm a very good indicator of how fresh bread is!

I don't know - but it happens to me, too!

I don't eat it quickly, far from it - but every flipping time i do, away i go.

Hope you get an answer!

I don't know why, but my mother always said not to eat the warm bread straight from the oven because it gives you indigestion. She is right. I shall look back here to see if you get some good replies. It might be worth posting this in Food and Drink. There are some very knowledgeable people on there.
I'm okay with fresh bread, but crumpets always give me the hiccups!

Weirdo.
