Allergy to suncream

My eldest sun has an allergy to suncream. It is not the perfume, I am almost certain it is whatever the spf is because the stronger the spf the worse the reaction. He goes reddy/purple, his skin cracks, and in some places almost looks bruised.

My doctors are useless and never let me take him to see the actual doctor and fob me off with the health visitor. She says trial and error.

Anyone got any ideas?

I presume that you've tried some of the anti-allergy ones? Expensive I know, but trial and error is probably the best way, though just try it on a small part of his body. Maybe you could ask friends if you could test some of their sun cream?

We have done a lot of testing, he is 5 now. So its every couple of days in summer months we try. I have taken to just walking in the chemists and testing them now.
Some research was being done not long ago about the high levels of chemicals in sun screen products, as you say, the higher the spf, the higher the chemicals in the product. I think some sun blocks were discontinued but not absolutely sure. Have you tried places like Holland & Barratt or The Green People (on line) they have more natural products.
