Why are some people more insecure than others?

How can some of us be the insanely insecure type, and yet others can be totally confident and trusting? Is it always a case of something that has happened in our past to make us that way,or are we just born like it?

I think we are born either shy and insecure or confident. But life can change that.
A shy, insecure person can find confidence with the right encouragement or partner in a loving relationship just as a confident person can have their trust destroyed in someone to the point where they find it hard to live life as they once did.

Oh good question PinkFizz! And good answer redcrx!
I agree entirely!
I was terribly insecure when i was younger - can't put it down to anything in particular, but since meeting a certain someone, i have changed beyond recognition.
When someone gives you confidence - or helps you to see that you CAN be a confident person - things can change dramatically.

well b/f has been at his job for 6 months - he is contracted there and so doesnt work for them directly. He comes home every day saying that they never talk to him,(probably coz his contract pays twice what they earn) but it doesnt bother him and he just gets on with his job and comes home.Every eve I say - same old day being ignored - and he laughs and says they are a bunch of miserable sods.Till today
He txt me half hour ago to say that the management had invited him out for the eve for a few drinks and he was going to go.I replied and said that was fine - and would do him good but was surprised as they didnt even talk to him at work,or even offer him a coffee. He replied saying he was just as surprised and was now going to book a hotel for that night!
hey i wasnt trying to be funny, my theory is that insecure will usually have an issue that they blame for their insecurity. just because you disgaree with my answer to your question don't mean you can be spiteful. and yes i may be fat and ugly and i may be talking from personal experience. you lot are too quick to judge.
