I've just started working here (near Waterloo) and I think it's great! The night life is fab and the general atmosphere of London is very good! You'll find that no-one is up themselves here, everyone just has a good time!! Have you any idea of where you're gonna go though?? Which part of London (I'm guessing Central)? As far as I'm aware, most of the clubs are open really late (or early depending on how you look at it I guess!!), but after about 1am you'll need to get taxis or night buses around. You'll have a fab time though! Will you be staying the weekend or heading straight back tomorrow?
lol...aww bless... remind me of Glyn from BB.
Anyway, i'm from London, bout 20 minutes from central.
If you've been to cities such as Manchester i'm sure you'll be fine.
Londoners arent "up themsleves" but then i suppose it depends where you go.
Certain clubs in London are gueslist entry only - you can search the net to get your name down on those - these clubs are usually around the west end/central london.
If you want any suggestions let me know.
In clubs where guestlist is required you probably will notice a few guys and girls that think they're it... but you get that everywhere...
Clubs do usually close around 4am
Just dont worry about other people and enjoy yourself. x

Ok - I'll give you the lowdown:
Hoxton - (go to shoreditch on the east london line or old street on the northern line)- lots of funky arty types, very cool but a bit pretentious if you ask me.
Farringdon - on the district line - there is fabric, which is mostly hard house and some hip hop IO think depending on when you go (you can check on their website). It's open until 6am so no probs there.
Leicester Square - lots of clubs and things around there. Mostly cheese/pop but not snooty at all. Lots of normal people.
Clapham - (where I live) - loads of bars, there are 2 clubs, the clapham grand and infernos. Both very cheesy, but if you like Manchester and Preston you may like them!
Steer clear of - Kensington and Mayfair, this is where the super-rich people go and you won't get in unless you're wearing Miu Miu and Prada and on the guest list.
Have a great night!

they don't like welsh people in london.
if i were you and you have plenty of spondoolees i would ignore the suburban 'trendy' places like clapham and hoxton. stick to places like soho if it is your first visit. there are some nice bars around there and the back of oxford street, the drinks are pricey but the women are usually cheap. if you want more upmarket then head down to green park tube and stroll down dover street. for clubs head down to clerkenwell/farringdon where you can find, fabric, dust, fluid and others. most of these close at 4am.

Salisbury, you'll find London to be significantly more expensive than anywhere else you visit, so be prepared to spend lots of money. Sorry if thats stating the obvious, but you did describe yourself as a 'virgin' in this sense.
The people aren't 'up themselves.' I was born here and have lived here all my life - the people are generally friendly, and the city itself is wonderfully diverse. Well, people say that all the time...but unless you come here and see it for yourself, only then will you truly experience the diversity.
I don't go out in London; it much too expensive for my liking. But, having said that, if its just for a one-off night, then you should enjoy yourself.
