involuntary hand movement

a friend of mine has a strange problem with her hands. Whenever she moves the fingers on one hand the fingers of the other hand tend to 'mimic' the actions. Although this is a handicap (she dare not drive a car for example) and affects her confidence, she has lived with it all her life without seeking help!
It would be really nice if there was someone out there who had heard of a similar affliction or if treatment was available, etc. Thank you.

If you know the medical name for her syndrome, then we may be able to help further. For example, if it was a form of dystonia (and I am not saying that it is) then there is a support network at www.dystonia.org.uk

I can't find any links for a synkonesia support network but a local GP might be able to help.
Some additional (possibly connected info) here.
