Any sufferers out there?
Would like to know how you have coped with it. I have heard the causes could be from a virus, stress or fluid in the inner ear. I have had it for years, both in a mild and strong form. I have been prescribed different tablets from both a doctor and a specialist - Stemetil for strong attacks and Betahistine Hydrochloride for long term use - yet it keeps on coming back . Five months ago after an intensive dose of Betahistine tablets, I was told it should be cleared up, yet it is back.
Anybody have similar experience? Does one have this condition for life? Thanks.

Had to resort to the stemetil (which thankfully works) two days ago after having raging headaches & dizziness since last Friday.....I no longer cope with the very hot temperatures that we've had recently & very rarely go in lifts unless it's absolutely vital as that can spark it off, as does stress.
The strange thing is, if I reel (I'm never drunk honest!) it's always to the left...at least I know which side is going to get a bruise if I hit anything. :o)
sorry I haven't been much help have I?
I think the secret is to take your medication before it gets too bad & that sometimes cuts an attack short.

I spend yesterday in hospital being treated for Labrynthitis which is a condition of the middles ear. I am still not feeling 100% still feel rather dizzy. Yesterday was awful couldn't stop being sick to the point I had to have fluids intravenously I was told it most probably was viral but I suspect it is stress related as my father died recently and I am interested to see you were told it could be stress related . I have been prescribed prochlorperazine. Are you being treated by your GP or have you been referred to Ear Nose and throat specialist yet?
Thank you for all your comments.
To answer your question Yvonne M, my GP always gave me Stemetil to take when I had a vertigo attack but an Ear Nose and Throat Specialist put me on a daily dose of Betahistine for a couple of years. I have had problems for nearly 18 years and a few years ago, got so fed up with these attacks, that I asked my GP if I could see an ENT Specialist.
