Lets just say '' It will be expected'' to say a few words

Is it you that is the Groom by the way?

yea and dreading doing it
Think of it this way - the groom's speech is over and done in a few minutes; marriage can last a lifetime. :-)

No-one expects you to be an expert public speaker or hilarious comic, your audience will be made up of friends and family, and it doesn't have to last long (in fact, they'll prefer it not to). Just say something vaguely witty for the boys (keep it clean), something romantic about your bride for the girls, and dish out lots of thank yous.
Nothing to worry about Dave, if you want to make things easier make the speech slightly funny {its a great ice breaker} these things seem to naturally work out well.

Your doing the hardest bit geeting married ie wedding vowels etc, when you walk out of that church you will be so relieved the speech will be a piece of cake, if it helps get some advice of your more serious mates who have got married.

Ps, have a shot of brandy, if nothing else it will certainly clear your throat.

Have a good un. good luck
Don't panic Dave,I didn't like the idea of giving a speech, just remember its the best mans job to be witty.
Keep it simple, thank everybody for turning up,say how beautiful the bride looks, and tell every body actions speak louder than words, which you're going to prove later!
Don't forget to thank the new in-laws for their beautiful daughter. :)

Good luck, and all the best. :)
You'll be fine. My daughter has asked me to do a reading in church for her wedding next year so I know how you feel. Just enjoy the day 'cause it goes so quickly.
