I get this nearly every week now. When my leg has cramped up and I wake up and stretch and pull the muscle right in the back of my leg and burns like hell. That I end up throwing myself out of bed screaming in agony. Its usually the following day that I limp its just basically coz you've pulled the muscle, try some deep heat rubbed onto it or any other muscle rub with ibruprofen.
I suffered from leg cramps for years and had have also had the not-being-able-to-walk-the-next-day limp too.
For the past few weeks I''ve had some acupuncture on my leg and it seems to have worked a treat; had cramp once since then and not any at all in the past 10 days (and I used to get it every night).
I recently started getting cramp in the backs of both legs every morning when I stretched, and, also ended up throwing myself out of bed screaming in agony.. would be good if there was a definate cream or something to stop it! x
in this case you can put the blame firmly on the beer mate. chances are you were dehydrated. alcohol and warm weather has taken water out of your system causing the muscles to shrink slightly. its similar to what happens to footy players in the hot weather, when they'r collapsing all over the place after 80 mins or so.
get lots of water down you b4 you go to kip and try to keep cool during the night.
A friend of mine recommended taking a small glass of tonic water for my leg cramps and it really worked. It is apparently the Quinine in tonic water that does the trick.Nothing to stop you having a shot of gin in it if you feel so inclined.Ha Ha.
It happened to me just like that a couple of weeks before I had a heart attack. Only in my case it was my wife doing the laughing.
Got my own back though.....I survived and she couldn't spend the insurance money after all.
Cheer up.......it might never happen!
