Why do Dads insist on wearing socks and sandals? Im 25 now and after 25 years of persistent nagging he still wont take off his white socks pulled up to his kneecaps.

Because its how they grew up, with little knee socks just like most old woman wear skirts or cotton trousers when we are older we will be wearing jeans.

Why shouldn't anybody be able to dress how they feel comfortable without facing criticism or mirth?

I expect your father has cringed at some of the outfits you have chosen to go out in too.

It could be worse, he could be a golfer. Silly baggy knickerbocker type trousers coming to just below the knee, fat hairy legs, little white socks below the ankle, and naff golf shoes. Then you have to keep shouting "Fore!" and knock your balls into the sandpits. Load of -------s

I agree with Ethel. Accept people for what they are, not for what they wear. When you get to a certain age you don't give a monkey's toss for what people think about what you wear, so long as it's clean. And quite right, too.
Also, as you age, your feet and legs become less attractive. As a bygone poet said ' As I am, so you will be.'
