superficial frostbite - skin burn

This is quite urgent: my boyfriend asked me to help him 'freeze' a small wart under his arm with a topical 'freeze' spray. Unfortunately, he misread the instructions and told me to spray continuously onto the growth for 40 seconds. Needless to say he was screaming in agony, but I persisted because he told me to.
It wasn't until after I'd finished he re-read the instructins and realised I wasn't supposed to spray, just hold the applicator to the skin for 40 seconds. He now has a 6-8cm diameter superficial burn and is in pain. What should he do?

chrissie, have you spoken to NHS yet? If it were me, I would take him to the hospital right away. He may have permanent damage from this and he needs to see a burn specialist right away :(
BTW, I am not a medical doctor, but I was a medic in a past life.
