Does the cross trainer tone your lower belly muscles? Also does walking and cycling do this? What would you say is the best option??

Guess it depends on how cross the trainer is?

Sorry saxo boi, just couldn't resist that. Seriously though, not sure about the cross trainer or cycling but I do walk a lot and this has done nothing to help my belly muscles (still flabby although I am not overweight). Probbably need some specific exercise that concentrates on the abs, sit-ups etc. good luck.
The cross trainer is, like cycling/rowing/walking/running etc strictly an aorobic excersise, it will do nothing for your abs, (although it might help to tone your legs a little). It is used for burning calories generally, to help you trim off fat, which is not the same as building muscle. Try crunches, leg lifts etc to specifically target the abs.

Ok so I need some advice people!!!!!! What the hell does a bloke do at the gym to tone the belly?! Apart from situps of course?? I always thought cycling and things like that help build muscle! I didnt realise that they didnt!!! I take it its things involving weights that are going to help me to build up belly muscle then yea?
Cycling, cross trainer and tredmill are all for cardio workouts - it's gonna do nothing for your belly, although it may help to lose a couple of inches on your waist, as it did for me. You really should talk to a Personal Trainer at your (local) gym. Otherwise, just do the sit-ups (morning and night) and some of the weights. Another tip is to try to hold your belly in, whenever you can remember, as this will make you belly flatter too. Remember, all this takes time, so don't be expecting miracles within a week!
