Please give me the name of this movie

Can someone please help me and give me the name of this movie. I saw this movie in 2003. I believe it came out 2000-2002. I don't know the names of the actors but I will describe the whole movie:

There is a couple married. The wife is upstairs in her huge bedroom fixing her bed. Her husband comes upstairs and starts hugging her from behind and then starts beating her. She gets away. Now he is looking for her and the first place he goes to is her mom's. He is disguised as a gas worker and rings the bell. The mom does not recognize him and makes him a cup of coffee. They are in the living room drinking their coffee and all of a sudden, he gives the mom a wicked look and she realizes that it is him. He chases her in the house and catches her in the kitchen. He kills her by putting a clear plastic bag over her head. Now there is a scene where the cops are in a room and one cop is showing the others 2 different pictures of this husband. One where he is himself and the other is when he is disguised and then the camera shows the back room and there he is, disguised as a cop in the same room. Then the wife is at home and the phone rings. It is him calling her within the house. She drops the phone and starts running upstairs, he catches her in the bathroom and covers her with plastic as well but she does not die. I believe a cop helped her get loose. Now there is a scene where he is having sex with one of his wife's friends and he has a long black wig on and murders her with a plastic bag as well. The wife finds a man to train her how to use a gun. At the end of the movie the husband and the guy who taught her how to use the gun are fighting. She shoots her husband straight in the forehead.

Can someone please help me on this. I have been searching the web over 9 months now and no one can help me.

Yes!!!!!! Oh my god thank you so much for finding the name to this movie for me. I have been going in sane for almost 2 years searching for this movie. The funny part of it all is that I kept saying to myself that the name is Instinct to kill and for some reason never believed in myself.
