Can anyone recommned a decent trimmer that cuts hair and can also keep beards / goatees in check at a desired length;

looking at around 20-30 pounds

hi marky, my fella has a goatee type thing and just uses wahl clippers. They have combs from a grade one to a grade four or maybe a grade six depending on which ones you buy.

buy a wahl trimmer, had one lasted absolutely years then when it finaly died bought a remington, friend had a remington at same time,they both dead so bought another wahl and again had it now for years.
