How to get rid of Spiders
16 Answers
I have a phobia of spiders. I've heard that you can get a spray that contains horse chestnut and clove oil that deters them. Do you know where I can get it from?

Leave the balls in the corner of the rooms where you see the spiders. Freshly collected chestnuts are also meant to work - leave a few around and this is meant to deter them.
Or buy a gecko. . . .
Spiders are good for the control of flying insects so unless its the icky big spiders that always walk across the ceiling as you are about to go to bed . . . . . try to rescue them rather than gish them.

I'm really pleased to hear all these tips!..I'm a total arachnaphobe too Mrs J !!..Understand you!!..Understand you too Nickmo...but a phobia is a phobia unfortunately! One of our cats loves to eat spiders (hate to even type that word!!)...but,he's not always available for ceiling, and top of the wall patrol :-(
I too hate spiders, I darent even stamp on them though I am sometimes brave enough to hoover them up (with the hoover pipe extended as much as possible)
My mum used to use something called Insectapen (i think) it looks like a marker pen and you draw around your window frames/doorframes/ventilation things with them. Its invisible so doesnt spoil the frames etc. when the spiders or insects crawl over it it kills them. Im not sure if you can still get them but my mum used to buy hers from wilko's i think.

I dont want to have them killed but am terrified of them when in my home.My daughters father in law woke up one night last week with something on his back, when his wife turned the light on it was a huge spider.!! uck!! I have had not slept very well this last week and alwas bring the cover up under my chin when I go to bed.think if I cover myself in clove oil it will keep them at bay.? Brenda x
i thought i was bad. i don't like em.people say they are prob more afraid of us than we are of them-so why do they always run towards you!!!euwww! i can usually deal with them if they're not too big.i didn't mean to pick up with hands after spraying them just scoop spider up with bit of paper or card or is that still too much?
my boyfriend was moving stuff around the garden today and called me over. yes you've guessed it he had one monster of a spider in his hands.but only just it was the big!!!! i freaked. he knows better than to do that to me. locked him outside for half hour after that cos people always have to chase u with a spider when they know you don't like them.why oh why????
