August weather is supposed to be 'EXTREME HEAT"

I read on the internet yesterday that temperatures were gonna reach 38.5C!!!!! thats about 101F!!!!!!!!!

Apparently the hottest EVER day will be recorded this August.

Dangerously hot - said it could be life threatening to some children and the elderly......

Anyone else hear about this?

I love the hot weather but those kind of temperatures are unbearable - how will we ever sleep at night?!?!!??!

I saw in the paper about a week or so ago that this month will be hotter than last month. This is gonna kill me. I cant handle our normal hot days that we have 3 times a year never mind the extreme heat that goes on for weeks.

nat where did you see this? WHen I'm going away I get weather-obsessed for a week before to see. We are only going to Norfolk but I could do with it warming up.

hasnt california been geeeting a cooking for the last month or so. temperatures into the 100's. think they'r heatwave has just broken.

yeah stevie - think Cali was also in its 40s! That was the first place i was aware of anyway.

my friends over there in Cali, doing Camp America at the moment - poor little irish lass must look like a cooked tomato!

I got told its all just talk. But if not bring it on. We've been moaning about the heat one week, then this week moaning about the rain. I love the sun :-)

This was on the news weeks ago. I know what I`ll be doing. HIBERNATING. I`m not daft enough to go out in the kind of heat we`re supposed to get.

I love the heat - just not when i have to sit in an office with no air con from 9-5.30 :0(

Off to the Carribean end of the month though!!! Now thats when i love the heat!!!

ooooh I do hope not - I hate extreme temps in any direction & it takes me weeks to adjust.
Just remembered my BeddyBear is still in the freezer from the last hot spell -he's going to be livid!

i saw the american heatwave thing on gmtv, it was about 100 at 3 am?

apparently they've called a heat emergency for the first time ever in some american states as temperatures were up to 105.8F and over 100 have died! (according to yesterdays paper anyway!)

I love the summer though, and really hate the cold and rain - I think it'll be great!! (but I do feel sorry for people in hot offices & pregnant people though)

Dr Estie said last night on msn that it was 104, she is in NY City, I can't go back to work in this heat, I have had a weeks booked holiday this week but spent it recovering from heat induced eczma because it has been over 90degrees at work for over 2 weeks and i am working in it 8 hours or more a day. I cannot face another bout of this, but i am the boss and cannot take any time off at the moment. i am dreading going back on Monday ;(
